As a flight attendant I cherish the fact that I work with and meet so many fascinating people from all walks of life.
Returning to the airline industry after years in broadcasting and in between my former days with Pan American World Airways, it is confirmed time and again we all have a unique story worth sharing. The trials and triumphs we endure are truly our own to claim making us who we are to date.
As for each traveler who embarks on a mission thru airports all around the world there comes a time where fate finds you inside a metal hollow tube for a brief moment placing you right where you are meant to be. Tackling this challenge is no easy task. Just getting to that designated seat is exhausting. Traffic, parking, packing, security lines, delays, mechanicals, cancellations can make a person downright drained. I think that’s why so many people fall asleep just after takeoff. The trek alone can be daunting. However, coincidence or not, we unite with a group of unfamiliar faces heading to all different places.
Our common goal for the moment is an on time departure followed by an on time arrival to the destination of choice. This keeps us tolerant of the chaos. However, if we are lucky, during this time, we will capture a brief encounter, a memorable moment, a connection to our “Soul” surroundings. When a gate agent brings final paperwork to the airplane before we even close the door for departure, the crew is given a final count of how many people are in the aircraft. This list is referred to as the Souls On Board! I constantly capture soul snippets of the many people I meet on a regular basis.
These Souls On Board are a gentle and awesome reminder of our divine place in space inside the Universe.
