There comes a time in life when you realize we are all broken, burned, covered in scars, and at times…reduced to ash…just like Notre Dame!

As I walked around this precious place today smelling remnants of smoke still filling the air I am witness to a harsh reminder that tragedy doesn’t hold back for anything…or anyone…

In an instant…it takes my own thoughts adrift to Dean Blixt as he will have been gone – completely – from our earthly realm one year and six months in just one week from today. How can it be? Yet… I now know tragedy really does strike even what seems the strongest and most solid and well-cared for of all our treasures.

It is harsh and fate has no mercy. Today seeing this Holy Cathedral amazingly in a state of repair after all it has endured throughout life is an offering to my own Soul. Notre Dame represents Hope. For at any given instant….we come face to face with our own visible burns and scars… just like this structure…now under repair …~ It’s an unwelcome…yet awakened perspective… And by rebuilding the damage done…a global community has rallied together offering promise of peace and healing to the world… Just like loved ones do in our own lives…~ And as work is well underway to heal this 800 year old temple still weathering its own story…~ I realize we are no different. Circumstance changes the view ~ A once glorious tall steeple sure of its purpose… has collapsed…without sense replaced by steel and a metal crane…forced to endure change.

It’s unbearable, unthinkable, and unfair ~ Nothing is immune ~ only temporary!

Yet… we still rise!
