Meet the absolute sweetest, spunkiest, and strongest person to have ever walked this earth, my aunt Linda Lory Blixt! Lin is that person that stops to pet every dog she sees, runs around when she sees a napkin flying around to make sure it gets properly disposed, and stops to have a conversation with everyone and anyone (if you know her, you know this is not even close to an exaggeration!)

Linda’s husband, my uncle, Dean passed away unexpectedly just over 3 years ago. They believe his passing was due to a blood clot leg to lung, caused by a incident reffing a youth hockey game. I think we had all found ourselves thinking how unfair this is – how there was still so much life left to live. You can’t prepare to become a widow in your early 50’s. You don’t plan on your last time saying goodbye to your young, healthy uncle to be the last. Grief is a debilitating feeling, and it comes crashing down that much harder on you when you don’t get to say goodbye.

While still full of sorrow, Lin has done everything she can to make the most out of this tragic situation. She wants to remind everyone how short and precious life really is.

At the end of it all, your life is summed up by two dates and a dash on your grave. The year you were brought into this world, a dash, and the date you carry over to heaven. MAKE YOUR DASH COUNT. Do what you are passionate about. Treat everyone with kindness. Take risks. Remind your loved ones how much they mean to you while still on this side of heaven. We really never know how much time we have left on this side, so make every last second of it count.

March is blood clot awareness month. If you would like to hear more about this organization, please visit yourdashcounts.com. If you would like to purchase t-shirt to support this cause and help spread this positive message, please feel free to reach out to myself or Linda directly!

If you feel inclined to donate to Dean’s cause and Linda’s message, please visit the go fund me on the above listed website. In loving memory of Dean Blixt 1965-2018.
