Kudos to Peter at AZ Quality Granite!! Talk about a Seinfeld episode, seriously, it wouldn’t be a Lory family adventure without some sort of a debacle.

My brother Shannon was picking me up along with my other brother Jeff at Lowe’s. While trying to change lanes he had to break for another car, when lo and behold, Dean’s granite urn (yes, urn), takes a nose dive in the back seat cracking the lid in half.

Meanwhile, Dean’s ashes were riding shotgun in the front seat in the temporary travel urn. Shannon was ready to join Dean at that point. He wanted to replace the urn but I already bonded to the one that was now broken. I mean, it was already engraved with decals and it had been hanging out at the house on the table surrounded by love of family and friends for a week waiting for Dean’s ashes. Thankfully, Shannon’s quick work, 4 phone calls, $50 bucks and a pizza delivery later, I finally got the urn back.

Peter did an amazing job taking 4 hours to complete the work. The battle scars he could not fix around the jar are precious! They will forever be a reminder to never, ever sweat the ‘hard’ stuff. After all, I think Dean knew we needed a good laugh.
