Death’s Day
Today is…Dia De Los Muertos… in Mexico…a day also known as Day of the Dead… or even All Saints/Souls Day… also celebrated by many all over the World. A dedication day to celebrate the deceased. A day to reunite with loved ones. Here… Ofrendas (Offerings) are made of Marigold Flowers, Favorite foods and Sugar Skulls painted with smiles to Celerate…not Mourn… those we have loved…and lost. Many camp out at Cemetaries or Churches… and in modern day now have parades,…parties… and the skeleton face paintings of Lady Catrina… who represents all those who are gone. ~ At midnight tonight the marigold flowers… and sweet treats with their strong scent…will attract the Souls….and pave the way…and for one night . . this night…the dead will once again return to… Celebrate Life….with the Living. And the Skeleton smiles will laugh…and ward off…. the Face of Death…. that awaits us all.
Ironically, for the past several years… since the loss of…Dean Blixt… I have had trips to Mexico around this day… seeing parades and skeleton smiles. A reminder… I too am reunited with Death among Life! …and I must have no fear!
