Miniature yet Mighty Messengers!

A sweet hummingbird family has been hanging out by my backyard fountain. Mama, dad, and baby.

I must admit I have seen way more hummingbirds since Dean Blixt hasn’t been around, yet this summer it’s been exceptional, in part due to the extreme Arizona heat.

This time though, it was different as I was able to get a couple of pictures. I gently set my hand down and sure enough, the baby decided to step onto my finger!

It was the most mysterious, yet magical moment – this side of Heaven. I couldn’t help but ask what this pint-sized messenger was trying to tell me?

It is often said hummingbirds come with purpose and today I have to believe this sweet little family was sent on a wing and a prayer with a mission, as a reminder of joy and hope and gratitude for all things in life, great and small.

And as I remain so very grateful for what is, I am forever heartbroken for what isn’t. Yet, just like this tiny family trusting my hand and my home and my fountain for life’s water and a cool spot to rest and refuel on a scorching day. in a parched dry desert, I also must trust, rest and refuel in God’s hands that are greater than my own as I continue to drink from this fountain of life as I live in each moment, one day at a time, so that I, too can soar and endure the journey home.

Online I read that: …”While there is no direct mention of hummingbirds in the Bible, they are sometimes considered to be a messenger from Heaven, gently nudging us to move on and release the burden of people or things that have passed and can no longer be a part of our lives.

When a loved one has recently passed away, they may be a sign that the loved one has successfully made it to the other side and is doing just fine.

Some people also see them as signs from Angels, reminding us to follow what makes us happy and to enjoy the present moment.”
