Life sure does change on a dime…the smallest radius to turn abruptly for better or for worse – which one just so happened to be in my path today.
I was at Staples on another adventure with Lucy before another trip in to Petco and even a visit to the Skechers shoe store. They are each next door to one another ~ so Lulu was window shopping, checking off her bucket list, loving her outings, distracted for a time yet still searching for her furmates. Thankfully Arizona is somewhat dog friendly due to the desert heat.
These past nearly three years have thrown so many curveballs making life ruff: From the official American Airlines furlough as from the start of October until pandemic travel picks back up … who knows?….To putting Yogi down October 7th, to losing Rocky November 8th with both dogs cremation dates on the 10th, exactly one month apart. This after losing Shatzi 1.4 years after Dean Blixt and Yogi 1.4 years after Schatzi. Ugh.. too much loss…and in every aspect of life… I’m not sure my soul will ever make a full recovery.
And just as anyone worries about one animal or person or life event for one reason or another, life creeps in stealing another base and blindsides us from behind in ways we can never ever fully prepare.
Dean always said Lucy will outlast them all on our little island of misfit toys, and he was right.
Once a stray, now 15 going on 16. For her … and fur now … it’s a Dog’s Life – she’s simply living her way getting thru each day one day at a time until life turns on another dime.
I remain so very grateful for what is yet absolutely heartbroken for what isn’t. Meantime … That’s my sweet baby Lu!! Making her dash count til there are no more coins to flip!
