Oh~the people you’ll meet!
My world has been so full of irony and divine connections. People and objects placed in my path like clues to a surprise waiting to be revealed. It’s as if I have set out driving~ without a map…or even a destination in view….yet the signs are so vivid and symbolic and present …~ it only makes sense to surrender to the open road.
On my flight out of Dallas…an adorable couple… heading to a destination wedding in Cabo, MX…was sitting in front of my jumpseat.
We got to talking…no surprise there…about life, jobs etc.. The young woman studied nursing…and the young man….well let’s just say he was …a Messenger!
He told me he assisted with spinal surgeries on …. yes…. Cadavers!! ……What!?…Seriously!?. .~at the third largest spinal facility out of Dallas. … When I asked if he worked with Science Care…the education and medical research facility where Dean Blixt was donated…~ to my surprise the gentleman said YES!…ok…~ now I literally got chills….He went on to say Science Care is where all their bodies come from. …All this… before… I had even mentioned Dean’s story.
Most of you know Drs. believe Deans death was caused by a blood clot… leg to lung. Since we were both listed as donors I chose to proceed with a Science Care donation versus losing that window….over having an autopsy done for Dean. I do believe doctors have given me peace of mind with information that occurred…~ and based on the fact Dean said he was hit harder than ever before with a hockey puck…just weeks before his death.
Now…hearing this gentleman tell me about how much they learn from one donated body…~ that believe it or not…is purchased for a mere $10 – $20,000 dollars!… all working toward a goal of helping others live life to the fullest…~ brought tears to my eyes.
I asked about the care taken with the body and its parts…and even questioned the paranormal…which he did confess some strange things do happen. To me… having worked at the AZ Science Center and having studied Broadcast Meteorology…..I personally found peace and comfort in hearing his side of death. He even showed me a picture of the company “tool box”…well actually…some medical tools …and there are many….that are used. We even spoke about the process involved.
When I looked back at Deans Legacy letter on how his body would and could be used….the very first line states…”surgical training of physicians who specialize in treating cervical spine injuries and deformities”….Funny thing is…the gentleman told me they had received a male body from Phoenix within the past year! Could it be??…~only Deans soul knows for certain!💕…Thank you Cabo couple!
*Side note: I did follow up with Science Care. They said Deans body was being used for multiple studies not just spinal research.
