Did you ever think of someone that crosses your heart and soul and then out of the blue you hear from them or run into them like the Universe has aligned?
It’s true…since Dean Blixt has passed I have often thought of the special crew placed in my path that fateful trip, a crew who brought me comfort like family. I remember choosing to hold off on notifying the airline and choosing to work my trip back to base in Dallas as it was the quickest way to get out of Hartford, CT enroute back to Phoenix. I just wanted to get home.
From the Boston based pilot crew who called the DFW tower upon landing so we could taxi right into an open gate, even having me during taxi bring myself and my bags to the front to be first off the plane once opened so I could make my connection. To the Tower who then turned and called my flight service manager who met the flight greeting me with a hug, grabbing my luggage, bringing another manager along too so I could leave a fully loaded aircraft of passengers behind as we ran to my gate. I made the flight … positive space … thanks to American!
But then there were the other flight attendants. Kelsey was one of them. This beautiful Soul was the first hug I received and the first person I spoke to, telling her the news besides family, petsitter and medical staff! She was the FA who witnessed the Vikings Jersey on the gentleman in the hotel hallway outside of our rooms in Hartford at the exact same moment I informed her of Dean’s death. I have thought about her often and she was literally on my mind just a day or two ago, as I wondered if our paths would ever cross with furloughs looming.
Then wouldn’t you know it … this beautiful lady happened to be working my commuter flight last night as I flew to Dallas from Phoenix and this time, I got another hug! Thank you my friend for being right where you were meant to be in my darkest hour! I pray our paths align again one day!
Ironically Kelsey told me she’s been dating a guy since we last saw one another more than 2.5 years ago. She told me he now works for Charles Schwab. She said the only other person she knew that worked there was Dean. Maybe just maybe, Dean was somehow able to put in a good word about him to the Boss above. She said he loves his job!
